Namkeen Doughnuts

Shaped like doughnuts but with the flavour of a savoury snack, these delicious appetizers are easy to make and rich in flavour with the addition of ajwain.

How to cook ?


  • 1 packet Vegit Aloo Tikki Mix
  • 200 ml hot water
  • 1 ½ tsp dry yeast .
  • 2 tsp sugar.
  • 2 cups maida.
  • ½ tsp ajwain.
  • 50 ml milk.
  • 15 gm margarine.
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder.

Method of Preparation

  • Add warm water to the Vegit Aloo Tikki Mix, stir well and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  • Dissolve yeast in 100 ml water and sugar, keep aside for 10-15 minutes.
  • Sieve maida, add ajwain, dissolved yeast, aloo tikki mix and knead well.
  • Add 50 ml milk and knead well into a soft dough.
  • Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • With hand mix the margarine, pepper powder and salt and place the dough on it. Knead well till the margarine gets fully absorbed into the dough.
  • Divide into 8 equal portions.
  • Shape each portion into a ball and flatten it into a tikki .
  • With a small round bottle cap cut the middle portion to make it look like a doughnut.
  • Keep aside for 10 minutes.
  • Deep fry in hot oil for 10-12 minutes on low flame till the doughnut is cooked and golden brown.
